ASX 100 AI-disclosure index
How many of Australia's hundred largest listed companies mention AI in their annual reports, and how.
In FY2026, 49 of the 55 annual reports we have read mentioned AI, 89%, with 1018 mentions between them, 18.5 a report. In FY2016 it was 6 of 66.

How we make it
We take each company's annual report from its own investor-relations archive, never from the ASX, extract the text and count passages that mention an AI term. Terms within two hundred characters of each other are one mention. A model then codes every mention for what it is about, whether it points to something measured or merely asserted, and whether the company's framing is optimistic, cautious or neutral, with a blind human check the same way the Tone Index is checked. The cohort is the hundred largest companies by index weight on the day we drew it, disclosed in the repository; the coverage line on each year says how many of them we have read so far.

We publish counts and page references only, never passages.. Cohort: top 100 by weight in the Betashares A200 holdings file of 2026-09-09, a proxy for the S&P/ASX 100.
Read it with care
- Coverage is partial while the archive registry is being built: the total on each year is the number of reports read, not the cohort.
- The cohort is a proxy drawn from an index fund's holdings, not the licensed S&P/ASX 100 list, and it is today's hundred read back in time, so survivorship is disclosed rather than corrected.
- Report length and the habit of glossaries and risk registers vary by company and year; mentions per report measures salience in the document, not in the business.
- Two companies' sites refuse non-browser requests and are not yet read; their reports will be read from SEC filings or by hand.
